My CV (Briefly)

Adjunct Assistant Professor, University of Victoria Department of Psychology

Clinical Instructor, University of British Columbia Department of Psychiatry

Affiliate Clinical Instructor, University of Victoria Department of Medical Sciences

Senior psychologist

BC Child and Youth Mental Health Policy

I currently spend the majority of my time working in the Ministry for Children and Family Development helping to research and implement policies to strengthen BC's Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) program.  CYMH clinics are found all over the province and have approximately 500 clinicians available to help children and youth with mental health concerns.  They are a good first place to look for services, particularly therapy, prior to contacting a psychologist privately.  In Victoria there are three clinics (1) Victoria CYMH at Jutland, (2) Saanich CYMH in Royal Oak, and (3) West Shore CYMH on Wale Rd.  There are also eating disorder, high risk, multicultural, and aboriginal teams available.

Clinical Psychology Leader & Neuropsychologist

Island Health - Queen Alexandra Centre for Children's Health

I was at the Queen Alexandra Centre for Children's Health from 2006 to 2017 in this role and as a clinical neuropsychologist, seeing children with concerns about brain and mental functioning in the context of neurological or developmental delays.

Senior clinician & Qualified Specialist

BC Autism Assessment Network

I was formerly the Island Health Senior Clinician and Clinical Mentor, and now continuing on as a BCAAN Qualified Specialist in the assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorder and related conditions.

In addition,

  • I am on numerous committees representing psychology to other ministries and health care organizations.
  • I have published research on autism and neuropsychology, and peer review articles on behalf of the editors of over a dozen scientific journals in child psychology and psychiatry.
  • I have taught at Camosun and at the doctoral level at the University of Victoria.
  • I have trained dozens of medical students as well as residents in psychiatry and pediatrics.
  • I was a school psychologist in the Greater Victoria district.

Finally, I am also the parent of three children, and understand the perspective of parents and families trying their best.
